We Are Ordinary Women
Ordinary Women Inc. (OWI) was born out of our broken hearts during our time in Kenya.
In September 2004 OWI began providing humanitarian aid and education to those in need and aims to provide a leg up for communities to become self-supporting.
Our name reminds us that we are very ordinary on our own and that anything extraordinary happens only with the power from above.
We have ordinary jobs…
Some of us have regular full-time office positions, some have varied part-time employment, some are homemakers and some engage in volunteer work. Our education level ranges from advanced degrees to GEDs.
We have ordinary lives away from work…
Some are married and some are not. Some care for children, stepchildren, grandchildren, older parents and pets..
We have ordinary life struggles…
We have been touched by infertility, alcoholism, divorce, cancer, drug abuse etc.
There is nothing so special about our group. All we did was say yes to trying to do something about the living conditions of some people we met in Kenya in September of 2004.
We are ordinary women.
Read how we were inspired to start OWI in the book “Heart of Compassion, Hands of Care” (purchase at The Guidelines Bookstore).
Ordinary Women Inc., a CA 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, was incorporated in March 2005 by six founding members who currently serve as the Board of Directors.
