Vocational Training School

Sewing Machine Project-04
Kiminini Deliverance Church has started a Polytechnic School to teach practical skills like carpentry,
mechanic and sewing, which would allow the graduates to earn a living. Due to the lack of funds,
he is borrowing tools from the craftsmen in town to teach practice each trade with.
We were quite humbled about this and it made us look into ourselves and assess if we are effectively using the resources we have access to, to help others. The dire situation was with the tailoring class. There were about 200 students wanting to sign up, but only two sewing machines! We decided to pitch in and we purchased seven more foot pedaled sewing machines for the school, so that more students could enroll in this vocational training.
During our visit in September of 2005, the students surprised us by sewing African outfits for us all. First they came and took our measurements on a Tuesday and on Friday night we tried on our new two-piece, fully lined, festive outfits. The outfits were sewn with love and great skill. We were so honored to wear them the next day to our Conference.
