HIVS AIDS Seminar

HIV AIDS Youth Seminar 2006
Our trip to Kenya this year included an HIV/AIDS seminar. Our theme was “True Love Waits.”
Our team wanted to teach the importance of abstinence and to show scripture to strengthen this message.
About 50 youth from villages surrounding Kiminini attended the seminar and we were blessed to have a female Preacher friend from Nairobi and a Pastor from Uganda attending. The Pastor opened the seminar with a powerful message about being tempted to eat at Satan’s table and the need to be strong. We then presented the facts about HIV/AIDS. What it is, how it’s transmitted, and how to stop the spread of AIDS. We used H.I.V./A.I.D.S. acronym to present scripture relating to dealing with the disease “with God” and “without God.”
We felt strong about sharing this information and our prayer is that what they have learned, they will share with others. “…whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice.” This seminar was facilitated by Jodi Butcher, Suzy Connellan, Tamela Pugh and Debbie Valverde.
